Parliament Approves Vetting Committee for Mahama’s Ministerial Nominees.
Ghana’s Parliament has approved the composition of the Appointments Committee, tasked with vetting ministerial and key appointments for President John Dramani Mahama’s administration.The committee, chaired by First Deputy Speaker Bernard Ahiafor, will have Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah as Vice Chairperson. Alexander Afenyo-Markin, the Minority Leader, has been named Ranking Member, while Patricia Appiagyei will serve as Deputy Ranking Member.This critical committee is responsible for scrutinizing and recommending to Parliament the approval or rejection of individuals nominated by the President for significant roles, including Ministers of State and their deputies.Addressing Parliament on January 8, 2025, Majority Leader Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson emphasized the committee’s significance.
