First Direct Flight from London Lands in Kumasi, Opening New Horizons.

The Prempeh I International Airport in Kumasi has welcomed its first-ever direct international commercial flight. Ethiopian Airlines flight ET 8719 touched down on Friday morning, December 6, 2024, after departing London Gatwick at 4:38 AM GMT and landing in Kumasi at 10:16 AM GMT. This milestone follows a collaboration between the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) and Ethiopian Airlines to connect Kumasi directly to London.Initially scheduled for December 3, the maiden flight was rescheduled to December 6, with a second flight set for December 15 to cater to Christmas travelers. The Managing Director of GACL, Yvonne Opare, expressed optimism about the route’s potential, urging travelers to embrace the service to ensure its continuity.This development is expected to boost travel convenience for residents of Kumasi and surrounding areas, while enhancing economic and cultural ties between Ghana and the UK.
