FIFA and GFA Set to Launch VAR Project for Ghanaian Football.
On October 31 and November 1, 2024, FIFA will convene with the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and key stakeholders in Accra to initiate the implementation of Video Assistant Referee (VAR) technology in Ghana's domestic leagues. This meeting marks the beginning of the VAR "kick-off meeting," which is crucial for FIFA's Implementation Assessment Approval Program (IAAP), a prerequisite for any member association wishing to adopt VAR.The FIFA delegation, led by Inokuchi Takaaki and Michael Bailey, will assess the technical and procedural requirements for VAR, while the GFA team, headed by General Secretary Prosper Harisson Addo, includes prominent figures such as Alex Kotey (Head of Referees) and Emmanuel Aglago (VAR Instructor).
