US and Germany Launch $40M Initiative to Strengthen Stability in Northern Ghana.
The United States and Germany have partnered to launch a $40 million Coastal States Stability Mechanism (CSSM) initiative, aimed at bolstering security and preventing conflict in northern Ghana and coastal West African nations such as Benin and Togo. Funded by USAID and the German Federal Foreign Office, the project will run through April 2026, enhancing government capacity and community cohesion. The initiative focuses on preventing violent extremism and supporting social and economic development in vulnerable regions, aligning with Ghana's framework for countering violent extremism.
