Mahama Campaigns in Ahafo Region Ahead of 2024 Election.

John Dramani Mahama, the presidential candidate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), is currently on a two-day campaign tour in the Ahafo Region as part of his efforts to engage with voters ahead of the 2024 general elections.

Joyce Bawah Mogtari, Mahama’s Campaign Spokesperson, made the announcement in a statement released on Wednesday. According to the statement, Mahama will use the tour to present his vision for key sectors in the Ahafo Region, including agriculture, mining, and forestry.

Mahama plans to enhance agricultural productivity by providing farmers with modern techniques and financial support through Farmer Services Centres, aiming to boost their contributions to the national economy. The NDC’s vision also includes promoting local industries, particularly in mining and agro-processing, to generate sustainable employment for the youth under a new “24-hour economy” initiative, designed to reduce unemployment and drive economic growth.

Additionally, Mahama’s plan includes upgrading infrastructure such as roads, healthcare, and education in the region. The improvements are expected to create better access to services and opportunities for residents. The NDC is also committed to promoting environmentally responsible practices in resource extraction to ensure long-term sustainability.

Furthermore, Mahama has pledged to implement a free primary healthcare program and establish the Ghana Medical Care Trust Fund (MahamaCares) to assist with the treatment costs of chronic diseases.

The two-day tour is part of Mahama’s broader campaign to engage with voters and share his vision for the future of the Ahafo Region and Ghana.
