Ghana’s Parliament has agreed to a request from the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) to allow two Members of Parliament (MPs) to meet with the agency for an official interaction. The request involves Mustapha Yussif, MP for Yagaba Kubori Constituency, and Kwame Asare Obeng (A Plus), MP for Gomoa Central Constituency.
A letter, signed by Ebenezer Ahumah Djetor, the Clerk to Parliament, confirmed the approval in line with Articles 117 and 118 of Ghana’s 1992 Constitution, which govern MPs’ privileges. The Speaker of Parliament has directed the MPs to attend a preliminary meeting with NIB officials on April 7, 2025, at the Sir Emmanuel Charles Quist Conference Room, and they are advised to bring their lawyers.
The nature of the inquiry involving the MPs remains undisclosed, but the meeting follows increased scrutiny of public officials, with Parliament and security agencies working together to ensure due process.
