The Western Regional Police Command has reported a significant decline in robbery incidents, with only 13 cases recorded in 2024. This marks a major improvement compared to previous years.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Osei Akoto credited the achievement to proactive policing, community engagement, and strong collaboration with other security agencies. Briefing the Regional Security Council (REGSEC) and Western Regional Minister Joseph Nelson, he reaffirmed the police’s commitment to maintaining law and order while addressing key security challenges.
Despite the progress, the region still faces threats such as illegal mining (galamsey), chieftaincy disputes, and road traffic offenses. Minister Nelson emphasized the importance of a united effort between the police, government, and community leaders to tackle these issues effectively.
