UK Court Rules Against Teen in Ghana Boarding School Case

A 14-year-old boy has lost a legal battle against his parents after they moved him from London to Ghana for boarding school. The teenager claimed he was deceived, believing he was only traveling to visit a sick relative. However, his parents argued they were acting out of love and concern, fearing he was at risk of gang involvement and street violence in the UK.

The boy expressed deep distress, describing his new life as “hell” and struggling to adapt to the school environment in Ghana. He reached out to the British High Commission and a child welfare charity in a desperate attempt to return home.

The London High Court, however, ruled that the parents had acted lawfully, prioritizing their son’s safety over his wishes. The judge acknowledged the difficulty of the case but stated that returning to the UK could expose the boy to greater harm.

His father, who recently visited him in Ghana, suggested transferring him to another school, but the boy remains determined to return to England. His legal team is now considering further action.
