Drogba Defends Mourinho Amid Racism Allegations

Didier Drogba has come to the defense of his former coach, Jose Mourinho, after Galatasaray accused the Fenerbahce boss of making racist remarks.

The controversy erupted after a heated Turkish Super Lig match between Galatasaray and Fenerbahce ended in a 0-0 draw. Mourinho, frustrated with the opposing bench’s reactions, remarked that they were “jumping like monkeys,” sparking outrage from Galatasaray. The club released a statement condemning the comments as racist and vowed to file complaints with UEFA and FIFA.

However, Drogba, who played under Mourinho at Chelsea, took to social media to defend his mentor, insisting that Mourinho is not racist. “Trust me, I have known Jose for years, and he is not a racist,” Drogba wrote.

Fenerbahce has stood firmly behind Mourinho, with vice-president Acun Ilicali dismissing the accusations, arguing that Mourinho’s words were being twisted to create controversy.

This isn’t Mourinho’s first clash with Turkish football officials. He has previously criticized the standard of refereeing in the league, earning fines and a suspension.
