
A wedding in Akyem Anamase, Eastern Region, turned into a heartbreaking scene when the groom, Chief Inspector Godwin Beniba, collapsed and died moments before the ceremony.
The police officer, who was the Station Officer at Anamase Police Station, arrived at the venue, Anamase Hotel, with his best men while awaiting his bride, Florence Debrah. Shortly after entering, he complained of dizziness and suddenly collapsed.
Guests rushed him to Anamase Clinic, but doctors declared him dead on arrival. The shocking incident left wedding attendees, including fellow officers from across the country, devastated. Large amounts of food and drinks prepared for the celebration remained untouched as mourners left in sorrow.
His family has since transported his body to Oda Government Hospital for autopsy and preservation. The community remains in mourning, overshadowing the usual holiday festivities.
