Veteran actor Mikki Osei Berko, popularly known as Dada Boat, has expressed deep disappointment over the high volume of foreign content aired on Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC).
Speaking on Joy Prime’s Changes show with Roselyn Felli, he lamented that even Ghana’s national broadcaster has followed the trend of private stations by prioritizing foreign programs over local productions. According to him, this practice stifles the growth of Ghana’s movie industry and weakens cultural promotion.
“It breaks my heart when I see foreign content on GBC. Why should our national station do this? Other countries like Nigeria prioritize their own content, but we don’t,” he said.
Dada Boat urged the government to step in with policies and initiatives that will promote local content, ensuring the sustainability of the country’s entertainment industry.
