Ghanaian Man in Canada Plans Return After Seeing Friends Thrive at Home

A Ghanaian man living in Canada, known as Original Don Diego, has revealed his plans to permanently return to Ghana after realizing his friends back home are doing better than him financially.

Speaking in an interview on SVTV Africa with DJ Nyaami, Don Diego shared that during a visit to Ghana in 2024, he met a friend who sells phones and was impressed by how well he was doing. This eye-opening experience made him rethink his perception of Ghana’s economic opportunities.

“Ghana is not bad. My friends whom I met when I came recently are living better than me,” he said. He even discouraged someone from moving to Canada, urging them to invest in their business instead.

While he acknowledges that Canada has its benefits—allowing him to financially support his family—he now believes Ghana holds great potential. He plans to save enough capital and invest in the construction sector upon his return.

His story has sparked mixed reactions online, with some agreeing that securing opportunities abroad first is essential, while others support his decision to resettle in Ghana.
