Fire Ravages ECG Warehouse in Cape Coast, Destroys Cables Worth Thousands

A fire outbreak at the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) warehouse in Cape Coast has destroyed electrical cables valued at thousands of cedis. The blaze, which started on Wednesday, consumed about 60 drums of 2×25mm aluminium electrical cables. Fortunately, no casualties were reported.

Firefighters from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) rushed to the scene at 4:35 p.m. and battled the flames for nearly four hours. Their swift intervention prevented the fire from spreading to the main warehouse and nearby properties.

The cause of the fire remains unknown, and authorities are investigating the incident. Meanwhile, the Central Regional GNFS Commander, ACFOII Merinda Mary Attigah-Mensah, has urged businesses to prioritize fire safety, especially during the dry season.
