Ghana’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has announced that the Passport Office will now operate in three shifts—day, night, and dawn—to speed up passport processing.
This initiative, part of the government’s 24-hour economy policy, aims to reduce waiting times so that applicants receive their passports within a week. Additionally, the government plans to introduce chip-embedded passports and integrate passport data with the National Identification Authority (NIA) for smoother verification.
Ablakwa also mentioned plans to reduce standard passport fees while increasing charges for premium services.
