The Greater Accra Regional Directorate of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) has wrapped up this year’s National Chocolate Week with a series of activities promoting the consumption of cocoa products. The celebration, held in partnership with Kempinski Hotel, highlighted Ghana’s rich cocoa heritage and encouraged healthier consumption habits.
As part of the event, the GTA, led by Regional Director Alexander Nketiah, donated chocolates to patients in the pediatric and postnatal units of Mamprobi Government Hospital. University of Ghana City Campus students also participated in a street quiz about Ghana’s cocoa industry, winning cocoa products as prizes.
Mr. Nketiah emphasized that the celebration, initiated 20 years ago to promote chocolate consumption, has evolved into a movement fostering love, community engagement, and appreciation for Ghana’s cocoa industry. He encouraged businesses to incorporate similar initiatives into their corporate social responsibility programs.
The event’s sponsors, including Kempinski, contributed chocolate products to hospital patients, reinforcing the message that love and kindness should be shared beyond just Valentine’s Day.
