Over 600,000 Ghana Cards Still Unclaimed—NIA Urges Public to Collect Them

The National Identification Authority (NIA) has revealed that more than 600,000 Ghana Cards remain unclaimed at its district and regional offices across the country. These cards, printed since 2018, are yet to be collected by their rightful owners.

In an effort to clear a backlog of unprinted cards dating back to 2023, the NIA recently received 700,000 blank cards for fresh issuance, replacements, and updates. A special technical team has been set up to accelerate the printing and distribution process.

While this move is expected to ease delays, the NIA is urging the public to retrieve their unclaimed Ghana Cards, which are crucial for accessing banking services, healthcare, and voter registration. The authority has assured citizens that a more efficient system is being developed to streamline card collection, though specific details remain undisclosed.
