A tragic incident in Ilorin, Nigeria, has left a community in shock after Yetunde Lawal, a final-year student at Kwara State College of Education, was found dismembered in the home of a man she met on Facebook.
Lawal was last seen on February 10 at a naming ceremony before receiving a phone call and leaving abruptly. Her family reported her missing the next day, prompting a police investigation.
Authorities traced her last call to a suspect in the Ofa Garage area. Initially denying involvement, the suspect later confessed that Lawal had suffered an asthma attack at his home. However, a search revealed her dismembered body hidden in a bowl, along with tools used for the gruesome act.
Evidence suggests this may not have been the suspect’s first crime. He has been identified as the son of a prominent Islamic cleric in Isalekoto and is now in police custody as investigations continue.
Police spokesperson SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi confirmed the case and assured the public of thorough investigations.
