UCC Student Battles Rare Disease That Keeps Him Standing for 5 Years

Enock Eshun, a first-year University of Cape Coast (UCC) student and Mfantsipim School alumnus, has opened up about his rare condition, fibrodysplasia ossificans progressiva (FOP). This disease causes muscles and connective tissues to turn into bone, gradually restricting movement.

Diagnosed at the age of two, Eshun has spent the past five years standing upright to avoid being wheelchair-bound. He shared his struggles with blogger Zion Felix, explaining how his condition affects his daily life, including attending lectures while standing.

Despite the challenges, Eshun remains determined to pursue his education and lead a fulfilling life. His story highlights the resilience of individuals living with rare diseases and the need for better healthcare support.
