Tensions erupted at the Swedru Municipal Hospital when a group of Okada riders stormed the facility after learning that one of their colleagues had died following a motorcycle accident at Agona Nyansakyere.
The accident, which involved two speeding riders and a passenger, left one dead and two critically injured. Eyewitnesses believe a power outage may have contributed to the crash.
Upon hearing of their colleague’s passing, furious Okada riders assaulted hospital staff, including slapping a doctor, smashing nurses’ phones, and destroying computers. The hospital was thrown into chaos as medical personnel fled for safety.
Assemblyman Ishmael Odoom strongly condemned the attack, calling for law enforcement to intervene and prevent future incidents. He also urged riders to prioritize safety to avoid similar tragedies.
