A devastating fire at Gyinyaase in the Ashanti Region has claimed the lives of a mother and her three children. Linda Agyemang, a nurse at Kumasi South Hospital, and her children, aged 7 to 14, were trapped inside their home when the fire broke out in the early hours of February 8, 2025.
Despite desperate rescue attempts by neighbors, a suspected gas explosion intensified the blaze, making escape impossible. Firefighters arrived within minutes but found the victims burnt beyond recognition in the bathroom.
This tragedy adds to the growing number of fire incidents in the Ashanti Region, where over 183 cases have been recorded this year, with at least six fatalities. Investigations are underway to determine the cause of the fire.
