Three suspects, including students from Salaga Senior High School and non-students from the East Gonja Municipality, are set to appear in court today, February 6, 2025, over a shooting that occurred on the school campus last Saturday. The shooting, which left several injured, took place during a school entertainment event when a confrontation between two student groups escalated. One student later returned with a group, leading to the violence. The suspects face charges of unlawful possession of a firearm and causing harm.
The injured were treated at Salaga Hospital and discharged. Following the incident, 20 people were arrested, but 17 were released after screening. Concerned parents have gathered at the school, prompting the Parents and Teachers Association (PTA) to hold an emergency meeting to address the situation and security concerns.
