Greater Accra Launches Monthly Sanitation Day to Tackle Environmental Issues.

The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Linda Ocloo, has announced the reintroduction of National Sanitation Day and the Cleanest City Award, aiming to foster a competitive approach to cleanliness in the region. As part of the “Clean Up Ghana” initiative under the National Democratic Congress (NDC), a Regional Sanitation Day will now be observed every last Friday of the month.

The minister emphasized that waste management would be a key focus for local authorities, with Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) being evaluated on their sanitation performance. A new sanitation policy will promote waste segregation and ensure that public spaces and homes are provided with garbage bags and bins to enhance cleanliness.
