The management of Accra Academy has handed over a student to the police after a viral video showed him flogging his classmates with a machete. The school has assured parents and guardians that investigations are ongoing, both by the police and the school’s disciplinary committee.
According to a statement from the school, the incident took place on January 17, 2025, but only came to the attention of authorities when the video surfaced online. The students involved, all of whom are day students, have been identified, and their parents have been contacted. The main perpetrator, along with three others, has been asked to stay away from the school pending further investigations.
The school emphasized that the machete used in the act was brought from home and not acquired from the school premises. The case is still under review, and stakeholders will be informed of any decisions.
