Kofi Iddie Adams, the Minister-designate for Sports and Recreation, has emphasized the need to reignite the love for sports across Ghana to foster development in all sporting disciplines.
Addressing the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) elective congress at the Accra Sports Stadium on January 23, 2025, Mr. Adams, who is also the Member of Parliament for Buem, highlighted that revitalizing interest in sports was crucial for securing funding and long-term progress.
He noted that a key challenge facing the sector is a lack of funding, and he urged stakeholders to collaborate on finding solutions. “If we can regenerate the love for sports, more people will be willing to invest in it,” he stated.
Mr. Adams also underscored the vital role of the media in this process, stressing that sharing information and unifying different federations were crucial for ensuring smooth development.
As he prepares for his vetting process by Parliament’s Appointment Committee next week, Mr. Adams remains optimistic that rekindling public enthusiasm for sports will positively impact the nation.
