Franklin Cudjoe Questions Mahama’s Use of Brother’s Private Jet.

The founder of IMANI Africa, Franklin Cudjoe, has raised concerns about the transparency of President John Mahama’s use of a private jet owned by his brother, Ibrahim Mahama, for official trips to Senegal and The Gambia.

In a Facebook post on January 19, 2025, Mr. Cudjoe acknowledged Acting Presidential Spokesperson Felix Kwakye Ofosu’s claim that taxpayers bore no cost due to Ibrahim’s generosity. However, he questioned the legal and ethical implications, asking whether the arrangement was classified as a gift and properly declared, as required by Ghanaian law.

Cudjoe also pointed out Ghana’s history of governance lapses, comparing it to previous administrations’ actions, which left the nation with economic challenges. He emphasized the need for accountability in public office and proposed performance tracking systems to evaluate government officials’ effectiveness.

Additionally, he highlighted the importance of thorough vetting of ministerial nominees in critical sectors like Agriculture, Roads, and Education to ensure competence and readiness.
