Kenyan Minister Accuses Intelligence Agency of Son’s Abduction,

Kenya’s Public Service Cabinet Secretary, Justin Muturi, has alleged that the country’s National Intelligence Service (NIS) was responsible for his son’s abduction in June 2024. Muturi claimed that President William Ruto intervened to secure his son Leslie’s release after NIS Director Noordin Haji confirmed holding him.

This public criticism has made Muturi the first cabinet member to challenge the government’s handling of Kenya’s recent wave of abductions, with at least 80 cases reported in the last six months.

Muturi recounted desperate efforts to find his son, including contacting top security officials, but received no help until speaking directly to the president. The incident has sparked speculation about internal government divisions and calls for Muturi’s resignation by pro-government figures.

President Ruto has previously vowed to end abductions, though critics claim little has changed.
