The Police in Wenchi, Bono Region, shot and killed a suspected armed robber in the early hours of December 28, 2024, during an exchange of gunfire. The incident occurred on the Wenchi-Wa Highway around 3:40 a.m. when four armed suspects attacked passengers on a Sprinter minibus and a Yutong bus.
Upon receiving a distress call, the police patrol team responded, only to be met with gunfire from the robbers. The officers retaliated, killing one suspect, while the other three escaped into the bush.
Recovered items include a locally manufactured single-barrel gun, six BB cartridges, cash, and a student bag containing two Itel mobile phones and a power bank believed to be stolen.
Authorities have launched a manhunt for the escaped suspects and are continuing investigations.
