WAEC Refutes Minister’s Claim on WASSCE Results Release.

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has denied guaranteeing the release of the 2024 WASSCE results by December 29, as earlier stated by the Minister of Education, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum.

WAEC explained that it is yet to receive sufficient funds to repair broken scanners and complete the processing of results. While the Education Ministry released GH₵25 million on December 18, an additional GH₵35 million is still outstanding.

During a media briefing after visiting WAEC’s office, Dr. Adutwum assured that results would be ready by the end of December, citing government support to address WAEC’s financial challenges. However, WAEC clarified that the minister’s statement did not follow a formal discussion with its management.

The Council revealed that it requires funds to finalize activities such as paying invigilators, supervisors, and suppliers, as well as addressing technical issues to ensure smooth operations.

WAEC urged the public to disregard speculative reports and wait for an official update.
