Farmers in Ejisu, Ashanti Region, are grappling with a tough season as ginger crops suffer severe losses due to changing weather patterns. The municipal assembly, known for its agricultural output, reports decreased ginger yields this year, causing concern among the farming community.Kofi Asante, a 44-year-old farmer with 12 years of experience, owns a two-acre ginger farm heavily impacted by the low yield. "This is the first time I've faced such drastic losses," he said, noting the drought and irregular rains have led to dried-up crops and premature sprouting. Asante invested 25,000 cedis in land preparation and planting but now faces significant financial loss.With traditional ginger harvesting in September and reliance on consistent rainfall during June to August, the lack of rain has left many farmers in Ejisu worried about their future.
