Accra’s placement center has seen a significant surge in parents and guardians seeking assistance with the enrollment of their children into Senior High Schools (SHS). This influx follows the recent release of school placement results for SHS by Ghana’s Ministry of Education and the Computerized School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS). Many parents reported challenges accessing the online platform, prompting them to visit the center in person for support.
Some parents expressed concerns over their children’s placement, particularly if they were assigned to schools that were not their preferred choices. In response, the Ministry of Education has set up dedicated desks to help with issues like school reassignments, incorrect placements, and technical problems with the online system. Authorities at the center advised parents to remain patient and assured them that all concerns would be addressed before the start of the academic term.
This year’s placement process, similar to past years, has brought to light the ongoing need for efficient handling of school placements in Ghana, especially as student numbers continue to rise.

• Ms Ocloo (second from left) and others sweeping the area The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Ms Linda Akweley Ocloo, on Saturday led a cleanup exercise in the Shai-Osudoku District as part of the second edition of the “Regional Sanitation Day.” The exercise, which began at 6:00 am saw participants cleaning their surroundings and streets, de-silting choked gutters and clearing weeds. The exercise was in direct fulfilment of the Regional Coordinating Council to all Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies within the Greater Accra Region to embark on a massive clean-up exercise as part of the Regional Sanitation Day. Addressing journalists after the exercise, Ms Ocloo who is also Member of Parliament (MP) for the area said the exercise was in line with the directive from the President to make Accra the cleanest city in Africa.
