
IAWPA Commends NDDC on 25 Years of Service
The International Association of World Peace Advocates (IAWPA) has praised the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) as it celebrates 25 years of service to the oil-rich Niger Delta region.
In a statement released by the group’s Media Director, Ambassador Nwokoma Messiah , IAWPA highlighted the Commission’s efforts in driving transformation, innovation, and regional progress.
“We commend the Commission’s developmental role in the Niger Delta, transforming lives and promoting sustainable development.”
The statement also applauded Dr. Samuel Ogbuku , Managing Director of NDDC, for his leadership and positive impact since assuming office.
“His leadership has ushered in a new era of development, innovation, and progress in the region.”
Solar Fans to Be Distributed Under New Sustainability Initiative
As part of its ongoing support for clean energy and climate action, IAWPA announced plans to distribute solar-powered fans to top officials of the NDDC and select communities in the region.
This initiative aligns with global sustainability goals and aims to provide affordable, eco-friendly cooling solutions to areas affected by poor electricity access.
“This gesture is part of our ongoing solar fans project, aimed at providing sustainable solutions to communities in the Niger Delta,” said Ambassador Emmanuel Nkweke , IAWPA International Spokesman.
The group will present the first set of solar fans during a thank-you visit to the NDDC headquarters on Friday, June 13, 2025 , in appreciation of the Commission’s work toward achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) .
NDDC Marks Milestone With Sports and Health Outreach
To celebrate its 25th anniversary, the NDDC will host a Niger Delta Sports Festival and a free medical outreach program , showcasing its multi-sectoral commitment to community well-being.
IAWPA described these activities as clear indicators of the Commission’s dedication to improving life quality in the region.
“The celebration demonstrates the Commission’s commitment to promoting development, health, and peace,” the organization stated.
These events coincide with increased calls for more investment in infrastructure, education, and green technology across the Niger Delta.
Strong Partnership Between IAWPA and NDDC
IAWPA reaffirmed its commitment to peacebuilding, sustainable development, and cooperation in the Niger Delta, emphasizing the importance of continued collaboration with the NDDC.
It also noted that Dr. Samuel Ogbuku is not only an effective leader but also a dedicated Eminent Peace Ambassador under IAWPA’s global network.
“We look forward to celebrating many more milestones with the NDDC.”
