₦200M Bribe Attempt! Eedris Abdulkareem Exposes Govt Offer to Silence His Anti-Tinubu Protest Song

Article arrow_drop_down

Veteran Nigerian rapper and activist Eedris Abdulkareem has dropped a bombshell, alleging that powerful figures linked to President Bola Tinubu’s government offered him a staggering ₦200 million bribe to kill his viral protest song, “Tell Your Papa.”

In a fiery social media video, Abdulkareem revealed how an anonymous caller—first claiming to be an “Honourable,” then a “Senator”—reached out, admitting he was acting on behalf of top government officials, including Seyi Tinubu, the president’s son.

“Una go hear wetin happen!” Abdulkareem blasted in Pidgin. “One criminal call me, dey pose like big man—say dem dey ready to drop ₦200M for me, even promise ‘underground sponsorship.’ But I shut am down! I no be artist wey dem fit buy. Wetin be una problem? Na me una wan use play?”

The shocking claim comes just days after the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) banned the song nationwide, labeling it “too dangerous” for public airplay. In a leaked memo, NBC accused the track of violating “public decency”—a move critics call a blatant attack on free speech.

Yet, despite the ban, “Tell Your Papa” has exploded online, with Nigerians rallying behind its raw lyrics attacking Tinubu’s economic policies, insecurity, and elite disconnect.

“Seyi, tell your papa country hard!
Tell your papa people dey die!
This one don pass jagajaga!” — Eedris spits in the track.

Reacting to NBC’s censorship, Abdulkareem fired back on Facebook: “Tinubu’s govt just entered history books as Nigeria’s most intolerant, oppressive regime. Dem think say dem fit hide the truth? No way!”
