This move is part of the government’s ongoing efforts to enhance its fight against illegal mining, which has been severely damaging to the environment, particularly water bodies and forest reserves.
The Interior Ministry emphasised the need for renewed commitment from law enforcement agencies in tackling the galamsey menace. The directive aims to ensure that security personnel are held accountable and that appropriate measures are being taken to curb illegal mining activities.
The government has expressed its strong resolve to protect the nation’s natural resources and is calling on all stakeholders, including local communities, to support these efforts.
The Ministry of the Interior continues to prioritise the fight against illegal mining, reaffirming its commitment to safeguarding the environment and natural resources for future generations.
