Chieftaincy Clash at Gomoa Obuasi Leaves 6 Injured

A violent chieftaincy dispute in Gomoa Obuasi, Central Region, has left six people injured, including Agya Amoh, head of the Asona Royal Family. The clash erupted during a community meeting when supporters of rival factions attacked each other, leading to significant property damage.

The conflict stems from disagreements over leadership following the passing of the town’s chief. Obrempong Nyanful Krampah, Omanhene of the Gomoa Ajumako Traditional Council, installed Kwabena Atta as caretaker chief, but the town’s Regent refused to step aside. This has sparked ongoing tensions.

Eyewitnesses report that attackers hurled stones at the palace between 9 and 10 a.m., damaging vehicles and roofs. Some even threatened further violence. Police have been notified, but tensions remain high.
